Academic Experience
My academic interests are shaped by the intersection of personal history and comparative political inquiry. My honours thesis examined the development of gay rights in Calgary, demonstrating how institutions, advocacy, and historical context influence policy change. That work now informs my interest in how history, identity, and institutions shape public policy, democratization, and international relations in Canada, Taiwan, and Ukraine.

Honours Thesis
Homosexual Humanity: An Analysis of Gay Rights Development in the Calgary Policy Subsystem through Policy Change and the Advocacy Coalition Framework (1892–1980)
Research Interests
Canada
Taiwan
Ukraine
Canada serves as the primary lens through which I seek to understand the intersection of policy, identity, and historical change. My research draws on Calgary's LGBTQ+ history to explore the relationship between policy development, advocacy, and social change.
My interest in Taiwan began through a personal connection but has since developed into a broader academic focus. Taiwan's unique political status, democratic development, and historical experience have shaped my research interests.
As a fifth-generation Ukrainian-Canadian, my family history has shaped a longstanding interest in Ukraine's historical development, national identity, and place within Europe.
